Governor Brown Appoints Partner Jessica Uzcategui to Judgeship in Los Angeles County Superior Court

On November 29, 2018, California Governor Edmund Brown Jr. announced the appointment of Partner Jessica Uzcategui to a judgeship in the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

“Jessica has been a valued colleague at our firm for more than 14 years. While we will certainly miss her, we are excited to see her succeed in the next stage of her career and look forward to witnessing the positive impact she will undoubtedly have on the bench,” said Managing Partner Matthew McMurtrey.

Jessica’s practice has focused principally on litigation regarding high net worth estates. She has tried numerous cases on behalf of individuals, financial institutions, corporate fiduciaries and nonprofit organizations. Additionally, Jessica has served on the governing Council for the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association and was elected as a Fellow to the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). She was ranked by Chambers and Partners High Net Worth Guide in the Private Wealth Disputes category for 2018 and has been listed in Best Lawyers of America for Trust and Estate Litigation since 2014.

Jessica has been a partner at Sacks, Glazier, Franklin and Lodise LLP since 2012, and was an associate from 2004 to 2011. She began her legal career as an associate at Quinn, Emanuel, Urquhart, Oliver and Hedges LLP from 2002 to 2004. Jessica earned a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University.
