Terry Franklin Speaks to the Beverly Hills Bar Association Trusts & Estates Section

Partner Terry Franklin spoke at the Beverly Hills Bar Association Trusts & Estates section luncheon on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. His presentation, “The 1846 Last Will of John Sutton: What’s New and Not So New in the World of Drafting Wills and Contest Litigation” examined racial division and bias, as well as LGBT bias. He also looked at the parallels between racial barriers to relationships and legal barriers that existed prior to the Supreme Court’s 2015 decision in Obergefell. Mr. Franklin further discussed the laws that prohibited testimony by people of color and the ways that lawyers got around those barriers.
